The very first day, after settling in in our Airbnb, we couldn’t wait to go and see the famous Saint Basil’s Cathedral on the Red Square. And we were not disappointed. What an architectural gem!
Monday 17/07: Walking tour in Arbat district: mainly Arbat Street, Melnikov House and Pretchistenka Street .
Tuesday 18/07: We wanted to visit the Kremlin but we couldn’t really understand which one of the (long) queues we had to do. So we gave up and went to see other highlights: the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the European Art Gallery of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, the interior of the Saint Basil’s Cathedral and finally the GUM shopping arcade.
First walk towards Red Square.
We went directly to the Red Square to admire the magnificent Saint Basil’s Cathedral; truly amazing!
Even if we saw this picture in so many different books, it’s still surprising how beautiful Saint Basil’s Cathedral looks.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, one of 7 Stalinist skyscrapers of Moscow.
I love walking in Moscow streets in summer! I meet so many new friends…
Not really the season but always nice (and soft) to try these chapkas.
Today was the last booster shot for one of the many vaccines we’ve taken. Always a bit scary for the kids…
Isabelle did the shots for us but Jules volunteered to do her shot!
Not easy to order food… even at Burger King.
Impressive Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. It was destroyed by Stalin in 1931 but rebuilt in 1997! Stunning interior décor.
European Art Gallery (of Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts). Superb collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist.
Kids seemed to enjoy.
It’s good to find fancy and sophisticated playgrounds to let our kids unwind…
What a start!!! Beautiful gems as you say!!! Enjoy every bit of it!! 😘😘😘
