Chicago (1/6)

Wednesday 01/08

We speak to Ludivine. Everything is fine.

We leave the hotel a little after noon.

It takes us more than an hour to reach our new Airbnb located in the Lake View district of Chicago, to the north.

On the way, we stop at Poke Burrito to take away 2 Poke Bowls.

Our Airbnb is very close to Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs baseball stadium; it’s a nice neighborhood.

We met a guy with a Bird scooter that the CEO of the company gave him yesterday (to promote the Bird scooters since he’s known in the city for riding barefoot on his – non-electrical – scooter). He’s an interesting guy who invites us to go to his cafe tomorrow morning. He also tells us that he cures cancer with marijuana oil, which he always has on him.

We leave around 6pm to go to town. We take Divvy bikes. It’s great. We ride along the Michigan lake, on the lakeshore path. Nice weather. Lots of locals, even on the beach (playing volleyball).

We stroll on the Riverfront trail, along the picturesque Chicago River. The Riverwalk is a unique Chicago lifestyle, with a little something for everyone: eat, drink, play, with stunning outdoor bars and restaurants, museums, pier fishing, boat tours, kayaking, public art, even bird-watching; an harmonious blend of nature and shiny city.

We see the Chicago theater, an iconic theater with its famous marquee, “an unofficial emblem of the city”.

We have a drink along the river.

We walk to the Navy Pier, where there is a fireworks display at 9:30pm.

We arrive just in time to buy a pitta/wrap and to watch the fireworks, which are nice.

We take a Uber to go back home (it takes over half an hour to arrive). It’s the first time we try UberPool but we don’t share it with anyone.

We arrive home around 11pm.

We each sleep in a different room to enjoy a nice bed.
