By me:
We wake up at 8am. Kids are tired.
Isabelle and I take a taxi to go and meet Arnaud and Julie, the founders of Vive La Tarte, a “lofty, industrial-chic bakery with an open kitchen for tarts, plus coffee, tea & juice”. We invested in this venture a couple of years ago, to help them finance their expansion.
Julie and Arnaud are a very inspiring couple; we enjoy very much the time spent with them in their nice bakery. We are happy to have finally met them.
We go back to the hotel to take the kids. We walk to Ferry Building, where we briefly see the kiosk of Vive la Tarte and the store of Recchiuti chocolate, superbly presented.
We walk to the nearby Financial District, where we have lunch: Isabelle at Sushirrito (a mix between sushi and burrito, where we unfortunately cannot build our own), Jules at Subway and the rest of us at Noah’s (NY) Bagels.
Ice creams for Florence, Jules and I while Isabelle and Ludivine go to AT&T to buy a SIM card for Ludivine (in anticipation of her trip to her friend Sofia).
We walk to Chinatown. There are many tourists but there are especially many Chinese! Shops are exactly as in China, with the exact same products! I go and check Poke Delish.
We take a Uber to Castro district, the epicenter of the homosexual community. There are rainbow flags everywhere.
We walk a bit on Castro Avenue. We find a shop where we can buy face painting and small Belgian flags (for the Belgium – Brazil game of tomorrow morning).
At 6:30pm we go to the Castro Theater; I indeed bought tickets for the sing-along show of the ‘Sound of Music’ movie. We liked our experience (with Grease) in LA and we all like the movie so I didn’t hesitate to purchase tickets. It’s a superb old theater. The experience is great. We had already watched this movie with the kids so they know the songs. It’s a feel-good movie.
The movie ends at 10:30pm. During the intermission, I go and buy some sandwiches (with prosciutto crudo) in the deli nearby.
We take a Uber to go back to the hotel.
Kids are in bed a bit after 11pm and Isabelle and I sleep by 12:30am.
